Know your square all the way up to 9
1²=1
2²=4
3²=9
4²=16
5²=25
6²=36
7²=49
8²=64
9²=81
Let's say we want to find the square root of 3136
Note the last digit, here it's 6, the squares ending in six are 4 and 6.
Now 4/6 will be the last digit of the squareroot.
Strike off the last two digits from 3136
Take the number first two digits now, find a square lesser than that. A square lesser than 31 is 25.
5 shall be the first digit.
Now to determine whether the last digit is 4/6, multiply 5 by the next number that is 6
5x6=30
Now if the product is less that the first two digits of the number then you opt for the bigger number.
31>30
Then the last digit shall be 6
∴ √3136=56
Most of us are familiar with the situation of holding your book and struggling to memorize all of the important points just before the test. This blog may help you memorize in a variety of ways.
Tips and Tricks
1)Try to comprehend the information: If you discover that you don't understand the material, take the time to learn it before attempting to memorize it.
2)Connect it:Material that is not connected to other concepts is more difficult to remember than material that is connected to other concepts. Connect the information you're attempting to remember to something you already know.
3)Give it some thought: According to research, your brain processes and stores information while you sleep. Try reviewing information just before going to bed, even if it's only for a few minutes, to see if it helps you remember it.
4)Self-test: Every now and then, test yourself by actively recalling the information you're attempting to learn. Make an active effort to quiz yourself rather than simply rereading notes or a textbook. Ask yourself questions and force yourself to remember the answers or material without looking at them. This will allow you to identify areas where you are having difficulty.
5)Write it down: Because there is a direct connection between our hand and our brain, writing appears to help us more deeply encode information that we are attempting to learn. Try taking notes by hand during a lecture or rewriting and organizing notes or information by hand afterward. While you're writing down a concept you want to remember, try saying it out loud and visualizing it as well.
6)Speak to yourself: Talking to yourself about the material you're trying to memorize may seem peculiar at first, but it can be an effective memory tool. Instead of simply highlighting or rereading information, try speaking it aloud.
Techniques for visual and spatial perception
Memory tricks that use your five senses include visual and spatial techniques. Images, songs, feelings, and our bodies are used to help information stick. Humans have exceptional spatial and visual memory systems. Instead of boring, rote memorization, visual and spatial memory techniques are fun, memorable, and creative approaches. This makes it easier to remember what you want to see, feel, or hear. Visual and spatial techniques can also help you free up working memory.
1)Visual images that are memorable: Try creating a memorable visual image to represent a key item the next time you need to remember it. Images are significant because they are directly linked to your brain's visuospatial centers. Images aid in the retention of difficult concepts by stimulating visual areas. Instead of just visualizing an image, try to smell, feel, and hear it as well.
2)Jingles and songs: Songs and jingles, like the memory palace and images, use your brain's right hemisphere and can help us remember difficult things like equations and lists. There are already songs for things like the quadratic formula—try Googling what you're trying to remember to see if someone has already written a song about it. If not, consider making your own.
Final Thoughts
These tricks may not be effective when trying to memorize at the last minute, but they can save time during study sessions. Not all tricks would work, but they would differ from person to person. Some of these techniques may sound absurd at first or may take some time to master. The more you practice them, the easier and more natural they will become, and the more information you will be able to remember.
